Give Thanks - Donation Based Yoga Series
News got you down? Us too. We wanted to find a way to rise back up from the darkness. That's when we came up with our donation-based yoga series. Each month this winter, we are going to offer a donation-based yoga class with a rotating teacher. All donations will be sent to a chosen non-profit. Together we can create a bit of community and give back to those that are spreading their light during the dark times.
We are lucky to have visiting instructor, Cecily (Cici) Smith, leading our next class! Cici's passion to share the healing practices of Yoga landed her on a Teacher Training with Jolie Manza, founder of YogaKOH, back in 2016. Her classes focus on linking movement with breath, in a repetitive and intentional way - moving towards the tension and barriers in the body, rather than running away, so that eventually you find freedom there instead. The goal being Stirha and Sukha. A balance between Effort and Ease... rhythm and fluidity...which she hopes her students will take off the mat as well.
Flow + Restore is the perfect balance of yang and yin. First, we move the body - then we put on the breaks and rest....Intentionally. Cici will guide us through about 50 minutes of a slow and fluid VINYASA practice, and then we’ll pile up the props and blankets and RESTORE all the muscles we fired up, including the mind. Restorative postures are like Savasana - the goal is not to work or to stretch, it’s simply to rest. And this time, you’ll be doing it for good cause!
This month's donations will go to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) - Missoula Chapter. The IRC provides opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and other immigrants to thrive in America. Since August 2016 the IRC in Missoula has resettled over 330 refugees. Every day, refugees and their families from around the world enter the United States with the desire to begin a new life.
